STORM UPDATE - October 30, 2011 3:15PM


	The snow storm has resulted in significant damage to trees and power lines in all areas of Westford. A local state of emergency was declared at 10:30am this morning. Public safety and highway crews have been working nonstop since last night. As of 2pm on October 30, 2011, 86% of households in Westford are without power. National Grid has crews mobilized in town working to restore power to the main lines and priority feeders. We are preparing for a prolonged outage and residents are asked to make necessary preparations. An emergency shelter is being activated this evening at 6pm at the Blanchard Middle School on West Street. If you need to utilize this shelter, please bring non-perishable snack foods and do not forget to bring necessary medications, pillows, blankets, and other supplies. If you have any questions about the shelter call 978-692-2161. Residents are asked to only use 911 for emergencies. Call National Grid with any downed power lines at 800-322-3223 . School is canceled for Monday. Halloween Trick or Treating has been canceled for Monday evening. Additional updates will be distributed tonight.
