Issue:
At the Annual Town Election in May 2007, no candidates emerged to run for the open position on the Board of Health. None of the write in candidates expressed a willingness to serve on this board. Under State law, a joint meeting needs to be held between the Board of Selectmen and the elected board that has the vacancy. At this time, both boards shall jointly choose a candidate to fill the vacancy until the next Town election.

Request from Birch Road Residents
Issue:
Birch Road residents originally attempted to have a betterment petition for improvements to this private roadway, but did not get the requisite signatures. The residents now would like to obtain approval to place a crash barrier at the end in essence make it a dead end street.
Town Manager Recommendation:
Several legal issues have been raised by staff, specifically, the right of access to Conservation Commission property. Town Manager recommends that a Town Counsel provide opinion be sought on the matter.
