Four commissioners are appointed by the Town Manager. They are responsible for the policies as they relate to the Town's six cemeteries. The Cemetery Supervisor is a full-time employee of the Parks, Recreation, and Cemetery Department.  For Cemetery related questions please contact Danielle LeBlanc, Cemetery Assistant at 978-399-2350

MISSION STATEMENT:  The mission of the Cemetery Department is to operate, maintain, and preserve Westford's six public cemeteries; Fairview, Hillside, Pine Grove, Westlawn, Wright, and Pioneer Burial Ground.  Our goal is to ensure services are appropriate, cost-effective, and of the highest quality while providing a clean, safe, and serene environment for all.  

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: The Cemetery Department, with one full time employee, provides preservation and support for the Town's Cemeteries including showing and selling burial lots, grounds keeping including mowing, caring for turf, trees, walls, roadways, flower beds; readying grounds for Memorial Day and Veterans Day events, arranging for interments, preserving and protecting grave markers, and assisting the general public and visitors.  The Cemetery Supervisor and Department Assistant work with funeral directors. families, relatives, Veteran's Agent, and contractors in coordination of burials, sale of lots, and genealogical research.  

CHANGE IN FEES - EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2012
The Cemetery Commission has approved an increase in the fee structure for cemetery related charges.  The last change in fees was in 2008.  The new charges become effective January 1, 2012.  Listed below are the changes:

NEW PROCEDURE/POLICY  -  Flags on Veterans graves - effective November 2010
                             
Flags on Veterans graves will be retired after Veterans Day and replaced prior to Memorial Day.
The Veteran Marker/Flag holder will remain on the grave site.

Veterans Organizations will be removing flags week of November 14, 2011 


Westford Cemeteries


The Old Pioneer Burying Ground
Located on Carlisle Road at the corner of Old Lowell Road. There are unmarked stones located here, no marked graves. Some believe it was a family burying ground, others think that it may be a native american burial site.



Fairview CemeteryFairview Cemetery
10.45 acres

Located on Main Street at the corner of Tadmuck Road. Originally called the "East Burying Ground" then later known as the "Snow Cemetery". This is probably the oldest burying ground. The oldest tombstone is dated 1702.



Westlawn CemeteryWestlawn Cemetery
1.7 acres

Located on Concord Road on the Southwest and Country Road on the East.
Also known as "West Burying Ground".
                        



Wright CemeteryWright Cemetery
4.5 acres

Located on Groton Road (Route 40) about 1/4 mile east of North Road.
                        




Hillside CemeteryHillside Cemetery
1 acre

Also known as the "North Burying Ground" or "Nutting Road Cemetery". Located on Depot Road at the corner of Nutting Road.
                        



Pine Grove CemeteryPine Grove Cemetery

Westford's newest cemetery. Located on Forge Village Road about 1/2 mile west of Cold Spring Road.
