RE:     Recommendations for CPA Funds - 2007 ATM        


Dear Members of the Board of Selectmen:

Please be advised that at its scheduled meetings on February 13, 2007, February 27, 2007 and March 13, 2007 the Community Preservation Committee reviewed seven (8) Community Preservation funding applications for the 2007 Annual Town Meeting;

(Westford Historical Commission)
To document (narratives and photograph) of approximately 100-114 historic buildings, objects and structures within the Town.

(Westford Historical Commission)
To investigate all possible historical and pre-historical archeological resources within the Town.

(Westford Public Schools)
For the removal and replacement of the existing roof at the Town Farm Building.

(Records and Archives Management Committee)
To scan and microfilm four sets of records that are at greatest risk of loss to the Town and prepare a Conservation Survey that specifically addressed the records held in the Town Clerk's vault.

(Parks & Recreation Commission)
For the construction of synthetic fields that have all-weather availability for sports participants at Nutting Road (parcel B of the East Boston Camps purchase).

(Affordable Housing Trust Fund)
To the Housing Trust Fund for use with affordable housing.

(Westford Conservation Commission)
To the Conservation Trust Fund for use in future land purchases.

(Westford Land Preservation Foundation)
Towards the purchase of a five (5) acre property located at 85 Carlisle Road and to place a deed restriction on the existing 1850 farmhouse preserving the historic significance, preserve two (2) acres of environmentally sensitive land, and assist in relocated an existing home at 275 Carlisle Road to the site and selling it at as an affordable unit.  The transaction must take place before the Town Meeting following the May 2007 ATM.

$15,000 Administrative Funds
(Community Preservation Committee)
For administration expenses for the Community Preservation Committee.


The Community Preservation Committee voted to SUPPORT the nine (9) Community Preservation funding application requests with the fund amounts identified in BOLD caps.  Language associate with the appropriation of Community Preservation Act funds for the 2007 Annual Town Meeting will be provided under separate cover.
