Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector Installations for the Elderly
In partnership with the Westford Council on Aging, the Westford Fire Department will be available in the Spring and Fall to install free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in homes of seniors that request them.  This program will include the installation of smoke / carbon monoxide alarms and also fire safety and prevention education to help seniors and their families prevent fires and to be prepared in case of a fire.  If you would like to apply for a free smoke / carbon monoxide alarms , please call the Council on Aging at 978-692-5523 to put your name on the list.  The Council on Aging will contact you when the Fire Department is available to install them.  If you already have a smoke / carbon monoxide alarms and would like to have your batteries changed, Council on Aging can make arrangements for that as well.  Please note that smoke detectors should be replaced every ten years.
