Vacancy on the Westford Planning Board

Vacancy on Westford Planning Board

The Westford Planning Board and Board of Selectmen are seeking to appoint a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Planning Board.

The responsibilities of the Planning Board are varied and are governed by Massachusetts General Laws, the Westford Home Rule Charter Act, and Westford Bylaws and Regulations. Permit-granting responsibilities include acting as the Special Permit Granting Authority for Open Space Residential Development, Water Resource Protection District, Commercial and Industrial development proposals and Wireless Communication Facilities, and reviewing Site Plans, Subdivision Plans, and endorsing Subdivision “Approval Not Required” Plans. In addition, the Board has the responsibility of developing various long-range land use planning tools for the community, including implementation of the 2009 Comprehensive Master Plan.

The Planning Board generally meets the 1st and 3rd Monday evening of each month, with additional meetings and site visits as needed. Members are designated to serve as liaisons to other Boards and Committees including the Community Preservation Committee and the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments.

The person appointed must be a registered voter of the town.  The appointment shall be for one year until the Town election in 2011.  Preference shall be given to candidates who intend to seek re-election in 2011 (1 year term) and 2012 (5 year term).

At their option, candidates may submit a supplemental letter of interest to the Office of the Town Manager with supporting materials such as a resume or CV
All materials must be received on or before Friday, May 28, 2010.
