BOARD OF SELECTMEN PUBLIC HEARING TAX CLASSIFICATION POLICY
FISCAL YEAR 2007

The Westford Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on the matter of:
CLASSIFICATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY

in Westford for the purpose of taxation during Fiscal Year 2007, on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 7:35 PM at the J.V. Fletcher Library, Main Street, Westford, MA.
The Selectmen are required under State law to hold a public hearing prior to the establishment of tax rates for various classes of property each year. Options available to the Selectmen are:
1). a single uniform property tax rate for all classes of property, or;
2). a split tax rate which shifts the tax burden between Residential/Open Space properties and Commercial, Industrial, and Personal Property classes;
3). And an option of a Residential Exemption, and/or Small Commercial Exemption, and/or an Open Space Exemption, or no Exemptions;
4). Or a combination of Options 1 and 3 above, or a combination of Options 2 and 3 above.
For more information on Tax Classification, please contact the Office of the Town Manager. The Board will accept written and oral comments on the Tax Classification Policy at the public hearing.
