Everett-Based Ice Company Recalls Bags of Ice
Warning Issued For 5-Lb Bags of Ice Distributed by Triumph Foods, DBA Tube Ice Company
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is issuing a warning to the public not to consume ice distributed by Everett-based Triumph Foods Inc., which also does business as Tube Ice.
Based on initial testing of the product, DPH identified fine brown particles and visible fibrous matter in samples of ice collected in response to complaints received by the Department’s Food Protection Program. DPH is continuing to test the ice to further identify the type of particles found in the ice cubes.
The recalled ice is packaged in 5-pound plastic bags and labeled under the brand names of Tube Ice and Carlstadt Consumers Ice Company. Product was distributed at several retail outlets throughout the state, including:
BJ’s Wholesale Clubs
Stone’s Retail Market in Abington, MA
Mass. Ave Sunoco Station in Boston, MA
Grocery stores, food service and other retailers that sell or use this ice should remove the product immediately. Consumers who have purchased the recalled ice should discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.
To date, no illnesses associated with this product have been reported to DPH.
